It would seem that standardization runs the hazard of stifling creativity. Dance in the United States is still the main innovator in the arena. The concept of national standards in dance threatens innovation, our cowboy/cowgirl spirit, and our certified non-degreed teachers. These elements result in resistance to accepted standardization inside the United States.

While the American spirit is unlikely to bend to national requirements created through a governing board, a group of individuals already unknowingly fulfill the requirements for dance colleges: the mother and father.
